Everybody’s Garden
By Chris Faircloth

Every spring, the variety and selection of plants available
at nurseries and home improvement stores can be
overwhelming to the weekend gardener. Lush blooms with
vivid colors vie for attention, and it is very easy to make
emotional decisions based on the color of a pedal or the
scent of a flower. Who cares if it won’t thrive in our
soil, will wilt in the heat of our summer and will only
bloom for a week? It looks great now, and that is all that
matters, right? Wrong! Is there a way for us to actually
see these plants and others like them in a real garden and
to see how they withstand the heat, the cold, the drought
and other conditions that are typical to our area?
